  1. Where can I locate my client number?
    The client number can be found on the upper right-hand side of your invoice.
  2. Who is eligible to participate in Paychex Referral Network?
    Current Paychex clients are eligible to participate in Paychex Referral Network.
    If you were actively participating in the Paychex Name Dropper program you have been automatically enrolled in the Program and are active in the Program. Your referrals in progress and/or successful referrals from the Paychex Name Dropper program dating back to Oct. 1, 2017 have been rolled over to the Program. In progress referrals are still eligible for their referral credit.
  3. Who is ineligible to participate in Paychex Referral Network?
    Paychex clients enrolled in any other referral program or being compensated under any other agreement with Paychex are ineligible to participate in Paychex Referral Network.
  4. What is a successful referral?
    Successful referrals must be new Paychex clients. A successful referral is defined as a prospective client referred by a current Paychex client that becomes a Paychex payroll client within 120 days of being submitted, and the referral must run payroll with Paychex for a minimum of 90 days. Returning Paychex clients that were previously with Paychex must have been gone from the service for a minimum of 30 days to be considered a new client.
    Affiliates of referring clients are ineligible referrals, therefore, they cannot be successful referrals. An affiliate of a referring client is an entity owning, owned by, or under common ownership with such referring client.
  5. Do I need to know the person I’m referring?
    While Paychex does not require you to know your referrals, it is highly recommended.
  6. How will I know the status of my referrals?
    Your My Account page will keep you updated on the status of your referrals. In addition, you will receive an email when your referral’s status changes.
    The table below explains the statuses and descriptions in regard to your referral(s). You will receive a transactional email from NoReply@referrals.paychex.com each time there is a change in your referral’s status.
    Status Description
    Accepted Your referral has been accepted. A Paychex representative will contact that business on next steps.
    Submitted Paychex has received your referral and a representative will be reaching out shortly to provide that business with more information.
    Sold - Pending Set Up Your referral has chosen to pursue a relationship with Paychex. We are working to get them set up with our services.
    Sold - Pending Payroll Your referral is working with Paychex to set up and run payroll, and we are validating your rewards eligibility.
    Successful Congratulations, you have qualified for a reward. It will be processed within 30 days of the referral processed date.
    Unsuccessful - Not Sold Sorry, your referral did not pursue a relationship with Paychex.
    Unsuccessful - Referral is a Paychex Contact Sorry, your referral was already a Paychex contact.
    Unsuccessful – Affiliated Sorry, your referral is not eligible because you are affiliated with the business you referred.
    Unsuccessful - Referral Didn't Run Payroll Sorry, your referral did not run payroll for the required time.
    Unsuccessful - Referring Client Inactive Sorry, you were not a Paychex client at the time of referral qualification.
  7. What will I receive for my successful referral(s)?
    For each successful referral (up to 3), your company will earn a credit of $200 or $500 per referral. A fourth successful referral will earn your company up to the lesser of (i) one year of free payroll or (ii) a maximum credit of $2,500.
    • Successful referrals with 1 to 9 employees at the time of their first payroll are eligible for a $200 credit.
    • Successful referrals with 10 or more employees at the time of their first payroll are eligible for $500 credit.
    • If your company receives a free year of payroll credit, prior credits received for first 3 referrals will be kept on your account.
  8. What is my term date?
    The term date is 364 days after the day you are either invited or register for Paychex Referral Network. You will be reenrolled annually following expiration of your initial term and any renewal term for an additional term of 364 days.
  9. When will I receive the credit for my successful referral(s)?
    Successful referrals must process on Paychex’s service for 90 days. The subsequent referral credit earned may then take up to 30 days to be awarded.
  10. Is there a limit on how many people I can refer?
    There is no limit to the number of referrals you can provide. You will only earn rewards when your referrals become Paychex clients and run payroll with Paychex for a minimum of 90 days. You can only qualify once per term for one-free year of payroll up to $2,500 credit, additional successful referrals will not earn additional credits.
  11. Am I required to use the email, social media tools and/or personal URL?
    No, you are not required to use any of the tools mentioned above, however they are a great way to promote Paychex to your network, and may result in referrals that can earn your company payroll credit.
  12. What if I forget my password?
    You can click on the “Forgot Password” link on refer.paychex.com and an email will be sent to you.
  13. How do I update my account information and/or password?
    You can click on the Edit Profile tab to update your name and company. You can update password by clicking on the Change Password tab.
  14. Where can I locate the terms and conditions for Paychex Referral Network?
    The terms and conditions can be located at the bottom of each page within this platform.
